State: Reflective.
Reading Mode: Intentional immersion.
Pattern: Similar volume as May, but greater depth.
June felt like a reset month. I was coming up to the anniversary of picking up my first romance novel, so I found myself thinking much more intentionally about what I wanted reading to be. The number of books I finished ended up being remarkably similar to May, but they were read in a very different way. Instead of chasing the next title as soon as I finished the last, I spent more time listening to audiobooks (and I’ve started to have a few of those going at the same time) while colouring, lingering inside worlds that really grabbed me, and thinking about books after I'd finished them. It also became the month I completely fell in love with Monster Mercenary Mates. Rather than racing through endless new series, I found myself obsessing over one fictional crew, making character notes, designing visual references, and generally wanting to spend more time aboard the Varakartoom.
In the world outside of books, I was counting down to my summer in Florida, Scotland had a heatwave, and it was the village summer fayre.
